What does "modular" really mean in travel technology? It's not just about IKEA kitchens anymore.

I'm not sure exactly who first brought in the small, but yet significant word "modular" into the travel technology space. Most of us are probably more familiar with modular when at IKEA. Having this in mind might help understand the coming dissection of its meaning in the travel technology space.

For understanding the use of modular is not normally something a businessperson of any industry needs to understand. Or do they? Typically, the understanding of this is normally with an organisation's architects, and quite frankly even in this camp you can find different opinions of the same kitchen.
